This site is for all cyclists - to enhance your cycling experience. Are you biking for fun or to get fit? Do you need advice on biking for transportation or for competition? Do you need help finding cycling groups, or do you want to ride solo? Do you want to upgrade your drive train, find the right lighting system, or outfit yourself for any of the four seasons? Maybe you know nothing about cycling but you want to buy a gift certificate from a store that can fulfill any cyclists desires. All of the above are good reasons to come to Light Street Cycles. The reasons to ride a bike are as divers as Baltimore itself, and your needs and goals are important to us.
It is about the ride.
Biking is going really fast without the noise of a motor...it’s also taking your time and enjoying the scenery. It is getting from Baltimore City’s bustle to Patapsco State Park’s abundant wildlife and back in less time than it takes to go shopping at the mall. It is shifting up as you climb the roads around Loch Raven Reservoir . It is also noticing that pretty block of row houses on Guilford, the historic landmarks on Fayette, intoxicating lunch aromas as you coast through Little Italy, and it is discovering what famous architect designed the arch exiting Druid Hill Park.
Biking through the woods on an autumn day is a different ride from that same trail on a spring day, or winter, or at night (oh, but that’s not allowed - we can’t condone that!) Sometimes its comparing notes on just where in that curve around that drop-off after the stream crossing you wreck the most. (No, no ..gravity is our friend.)
Biking is getting your exercise at Lake Montebello or Fort McHenry or Loch Raven Reservoir and saying “hi” to the other regulars who walk and jog and bike and keep the area lively and themselves fit. For many people, it is the way back to a blood pressure reading they can live with.
